Teneriffe via the Kamikaze Falls route and Serendipity Ridge. This is the less used and I now find discouraged route to Teneriffe (I'd never been up either route before). Although as I look at the Topo! USGS maps, there is such a confusion of roads shown that I'm not sure exactly where either route goes.
From what I understand, the official route plods along a variety of roads for many miles, eventually gains the ridge between Mt. Si and Teneriffe (I'm guessing here) and then backtracks east to the summit. Our route left the road maybe a 3/4 of a mile from the gate where we parked and exits right on an unmarked trail. It's rough, rooty and rocky as it climbs along a creek, past the falls, intersecting the east ridge at about 4100'. Once on the ridge, we followed it up to an open area below the summit. Clouds prevented most of the views but it was a good workout none the less. A difficult but efficient route. |

Directions:
Drive I-90 to North Bend. On the east side of town go north on the Mt. Si Road and follow to the last left turn you can make before it ends. Park as close to the upper gate as possible; a school bus uses the lower portion of the road to turn around weekday mornings and afternoons. |
