Each year, the Everett branch of the Mountaineers offers an introductory snowshoe class, open to members and non-members alike. The course consists of 2 classroom lectures and a small group snowshoe tour. The lectures give the students a basic familiarity with what's recommended for safe travel in the winter mountains, while the field trip provides the chance to get out there and explore what's possible on snowshoe's. The students can pick the level of difficulty they want to attempt on the tour. I was able to assist with a group of moderate, but adventurous students as we toured the area around Grace Lakes.
