Scramble trip in the late spring to a Snoqualmie peak.  Situated at the east end of the Commonwealth Basin, Red Mtn is ridge connected to Lundin Peak to the northeast and Kendall Peak to the south.  We followed the Commonwealth Creek crossing it and lots of small tributaries many times until we picked up the trail on the south ridge..  A drizzly forecast had us wondering what the slick rocks on the summit would be like.  Not fun in the rain.  We did find a snow finger that led to within 100' or so of the summit and that helped.  We took it easy and were careful climbing to the summit.  Spent just a little while on top before the wet and cold sent us down. The snow was pretty hard and quite steep however, and plunge stepping down on the descent didn't work out well for everyone.  One of the group slipped, was unable to arrest and ended up in the moat along side.  No serious injuries, but a close call.
