A trip with friends to an area in the Teanaway I've visited often. Especially this spring it seems. The trip was originally supposed to go to Garland Peak, Rampart Mountain & Fifth of July Mountain but numerous trail issues in that area forced a change in destination. We hiked up the Stafford Creek Trail #1359, crossed junctions with Bean Creek and the County Line trails to Navajo Pass. Just below the pass we headed west about 1/3 mile and set up camp on an open knoll overlooking the valley. There are some trees for shelter and spring fed water nearby. The second day, we headed further west to explore the area below Earl Peak. After scrambling Earl from the east, the boys decided to continue out Earl's northwest ridge to Bean Peak (Pt. 6743). This is an easy if long rock scramble along the ridge crest. Bean is a fun scrambe all by itself. Returning, we cut east below the summit of Earl Peak, gained the ridge leading east back to camp. We got off the ridge a little too soon and ended up having to look around a bit in the dusk for camp, but eventually did find it. Hiked out the same way we came in on the third day. The Teanaway is a favorite anytime, and usually has decent weather when the west side is drizzly.
