A Seattle Mountaineers trip to do three peaks along an extended ridge in the Teanaway. Great area for early scrambles, when the west side weather is murky and the snow still hangs on higher up. We started at the Beverly Turnpike Trailhead and followed that trail for .5 mile. We took a junction to the right on to the Bean Creek Trail #1391.1 and followed it to where it crosses Bean Creek. The trail continues northeasterly and climbs to the southeast shoulder of Earl Peak. We left the trail near the creek instead and headed north into Bean Basin. From the basin. it's a fun rock scramble directly up the south face of Bean Peak (Pt. 6743). Crossing over the summit, we dropped to the ridge leading north to Volcanic Neck (Pt. 6600+). We traversed below the Neck on the east side and scrambled to the top from the north. Devil's Head (Pt. 6666) is the next highest point north along the ridge. We retraced our path back to Bean Basin and then out to the cars. |
